Assistant Bacteriology or Microbiology Technician

Contract 6 Months
In this role you will be performing Bacteriology testing in support of DEFRA and the devolved government’s scanning surveillance policies.
Key Tasks:
* Culture of different organisms (e.g. E. coli, Salmonella spp., Staph aureus, Brucella spp., Champylobacter spp., Mycoplasmas or TB) on specialist media isolated from a wide range of biological samples (e.g. faeces, tissues, swabs or food samples).
* Bacterial identification.
* Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers.
* Submission registration using LIMS software
* Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities.
* Working to ISO17025
Essential Requirements:
* Experience of culturing of bacterial isolates
* A degree in a related scientific field
* Experience in techniques related to general bacteriology/Microbiology.
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Software
