Job Description

Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Community Rehab - Luton - £28-£30/hour We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to support a dynamic Community Rehabilitation Service delivering assessment and intervention in patients' homes and other care settings across Luton. This is a full-time locum opportunity offering a manageable caseload, supportive team environment, and potential for contract extension beyond the initial 3-6 months. Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist include: Providing occupational therapy assessments, treatment, and advice to patients in their own homes or community settings to promote independence and well-being. Assessing, planning, and evaluating care for a range of patients with varying needs, supporting safe discharge and improved quality of life. Developing and delivering individualised, patient-centered treatment plans, ensuring the involvement of patients and carers in goal setting and rehabilitation. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. Managing a diverse caseload efficiently, prioritising effectively based on clinical need and service demands. Using outcome measures to track therapy progress and adjust interventions accordingly. Delivering care in challenging environments, with occasional exposure to bodily fluids and aggression. To Be Successful: HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist Previous experience in community rehabilitation, ideally including elderly care, discharge planning, falls prevention, or neurology. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-led environment. Able to use interpreters and alternative communication methods where needed to ensure effective patient engagement.
