Job Description

We are a specialist provision in Redbridge supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. Our setting provides a structured, nurturing, and restorative environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships. We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join our experienced and passionate team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need guidance, consistency, and care. Key responsibilities include: Supporting pupils in managing their behaviour and emotions throughout the school day. Building positive and trusting relationships with young people. Supporting teaching and learning in the classroom and during unstructured times. Implementing behaviour support plans and restorative approaches. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to promote engagement and wellbeing. Acting as a role model and mentor to help pupils develop self-regulation, resilience, and social skills.What We’re Looking For Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (essential). Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting behaviour. Strong communication, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-energy environment. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.Why should you work for Horizon teachers?
