Link3 Recruitment is a trusted education recruitment agency committed to connecting dedicated professionals with meaningful roles across the UK. We are currently seeking a resilient, empathetic, and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join an Alternative Provision (AP) school in Mansfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support to succeed in their education.
The Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who may be at risk of exclusion or are already in alternative provision due to challenging behaviour, trauma, or complex SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities:
Build positive, trusted relationships with students who display challenging or disruptive behaviour.
Provide 1:1 and small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour.
Support teachers in the classroom, helping to de-escalate situations and promote engagement.
Implement behaviour management strategies and personalised support plans.
Act as a role model, mentor, and advocate for students, supporting their personal, social, and academic progress.
Monitor and record behavioural incidents and contribute to EHCP reviews and pastoral plans.
Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a consistent and coordinated support network.
Promote a calm, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications: Minimum of GCSE qualifications are required and evidence of these will be needed.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour, ideally in an AP, PRU, or SEMH setting.
Training: Knowledge of behaviour de-escalation techniques
Safeguarding: Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
DBS: All applicants must undergo an enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce) prior to starting work, if not already in possession of one registered on the Update Service. The cost of a DBS would be covered by the applicant. Link3 Recruitment is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
All candidates will be required to demonstrate a valid right to work in the UK as part of our safeguarding and compliance checks.
Desirable:
Background in youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring.
Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches and attachment theory.
Experience supporting students with EHCPs or those in care.
Interest in career development in behaviour support, SEN, or pastoral roles.
