Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a dynamic SEMH school in Lewisham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
Support teaching staff in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour incidents, and emotional wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to support holistic development.
Assist in the development and delivery of personalised behaviour plans.
Promote inclusion and ensure all students feel safe, respected, and valued.
Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques.
Encourage resilience, self-esteem, and independence in students.
Candidate Requirements:
Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school-based experience essential).
Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations with empathy.
Enhanced Child DBS (on the update service or willing to apply).
