Behaviour Mentor Location: Newham, East London Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only We are a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Newham seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join our pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting students to overcome behavioural barriers and succeed both academically and personally. About the Role: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to manage their behaviour and engagement in school. You will build positive relationships, act as a role model, and implement strategies to help students develop self-regulation, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural needs Develop and implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with staff Monitor student progress and report on behaviour and engagement Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environmentAbout You: Experience working with young people (school-based or youth work preferred) Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A genuine commitment to supporting young people to succeedWhat We Offer: A supportive and collaborative staff team Ongoing training and professional development opportunities The chance to make a meaningful impact every day Opportunities for career progression within education and pastoral supportThis role is ideal for individuals considering careers in teaching, youth work, counselling, or social work
