Behaviour Mentor - SEMH Support - Secondary School - Newham Location: Newham, East London Start Date: ASAP or September 2025 Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (with potential to become permanent) Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience) Remedy Education is working with a welcoming, inclusive and progressive school in Newham to recruit Behaviour Mentors to support students across Ks1 - KS4 This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in behaviour support, youth work, or special educational needs to make a real difference in the lives of young people. The school caters to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs such as anxiety, trauma, and depression, and has a strong, supportive senior leadership team in place. The Role: Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to students aged 11-16 Implement positive behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation Help students overcome barriers to learning and re-engage in education Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff Build trusting, professional relationships with young people Ideal Candidates Will: Have experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs Be confident, resilient, and able to de-escalate behaviour calmly Have a firm but empathetic presence with excellent interpersonal skills Be passionate about education, youth support, and inclusion Be available for full-time work, Monday to Friday during term time Suitable backgrounds include: Youth Workers Behaviour Mentors SEN Teaching Assistants Sports Coaches Support Workers Psychology Graduates Aspiring Teachers or Pastoral Support Staff What We Offer: Pay in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) A dedicated consultant providing ongoing support Free access to CPD and safeguarding training £100 refer-a-friend scheme once they complete 10 days of work Opportunities for long-term and permanent roles All applicants must have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one, and have the right to work in the UK.
