We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Plymouth dedicated to supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. Their mission isto create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially and personally.
The Role
The school is seeking a resilient, compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who face challenges in education.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
* Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis to provide emotional and behavioural support.
* Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and trusted adult.
* Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to support pupils in regulating their emotions.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to ensure consistent support.
* Promote resilience, self-esteem and positive choices for pupils both in and out of the classroom.
* Support pupils across different sites and community settings, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (school, youth work or care background desirable).
* Patient, empathetic and calm under pressure, with strong de-escalation skills.
* Able to set boundaries while maintaining a nurturing and supportive approach.
* A confident driver, able to travel between sites as required (mileage allowance provided).
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
* Resilient, adaptable and motivated to help students overcome barriers to learning.
