We are seeking an exceptional Behaviour Mentor to join our dedicated pastoral team at a thriving secondary school in Blackpool, Lancashire. This vital, full-time role focuses on supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour, helping them re-engage with learning and achieve their potential. The Role: What You Will Do As a Blackpool Secondary School Behaviour Mentor, your role will be highly rewarding and hands-on, requiring a calm, authoritative, and non-judgemental approach. You will be a crucial anchor for positive behaviour change. 1:1 and Small Group Intervention: Provide targeted behaviour and emotional regulation sessions for identified students, focusing on self-esteem, social skills, and resilience. In-Class Support: Embed yourself within classrooms to provide immediate de-escalation and crisis management, ensuring minimal disruption to the learning environment. Strategy Implementation: Confidently and consistently implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), risk assessments, and school-wide positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies. Mentorship: Build strong, trusting, therapeutic relationships with pupils, acting as a key role model and advocate to promote adherence to school policies. Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Leads, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a consistent, multi-agency approach to student well-being. Reporting: Accurately record and report on behavioural incidents, interventions, and student progress to inform ongoing support. Essential Requirements & Skills To succeed in this Behaviour Support Job in Blackpool, you must demonstrate the following: Experience: Significant, demonstrable experience (e.g., Youth Work, Pupil Referral Unit - PRU, Alternative Provision, or Mainstream Secondary Inclusion) of managing and supporting challenging behaviour in young people. Expertise: Deep knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies. Resilience: An exceptional level of personal resilience, coupled with a calm, empathetic, and authoritative presence. Safeguarding: A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices in an educational setting.
