Behaviour Support Assistant – KS1 (January Start)
Location: Partner School near Forestdale, Birmingham
Contract: Full-Time | Temporary | Ongoing
Start Date: January 2026
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
APT Education is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming, inclusive primary school near Forestdale, Birmingham, to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant for a January start. This is a full-time, temporary ongoing role, supporting Key Stage 1 pupils with a range of behavioural needs including ADHD, Autism (ASC), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and more.
The school has a strong family ethos and a close-knit team who work collaboratively to ensure every child feels safe, valued, and supported. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing environment.
🧠 Role Overview:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to KS1 pupils with behavioural challenges
* Implement tailored behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques
* Support pupils who may be physically or verbally challenging
* Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver EHCPs and support plans
* Promote inclusion, resilience, and positive learning behaviours
✅ Ideal Candidate:
* Experience supporting children with behavioural needs in a school or care setting
* Understanding of ADHD, ASC, PDA, and trauma-informed approaches
* Calm, confident, and compassionate approach to behaviour management
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
