TeacherActive is working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school in Bath to recruit a Behavioural Support Assistant for their on-site resource base. This role involves providing targeted 1:1 behavioural support to students who need help with emotional regulation, social interaction, and maintaining engagement in learning.
This is a long-term position with strong potential for extension or permanent placement for the right candidate. The school has a dedicated team and a structured approach to supporting students who benefit from consistent behavioural guidance. You’ll be working primarily with Key Stage 3 and 4 students, helping them develop the confidence and skills to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting students to manage challenging behaviour and develop positive coping strategies
Helping students access the curriculum through tailored behavioural support
Promoting independence, emotional well-being, and resilience
Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams to implement support plans effectively
The ideal Behavioural Support Assistant will have:
Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs
A good understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to behaviour support
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
