TeacherActive is working alongside a respected secondary school in Bath, currently seeking a Behavioural Support Assistant to join their dedicated on-site resource base. This specialist provision supports students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those requiring additional behavioural support.
In this role, you'll be working mainly with Key Stage 3 and 4 students, providing targeted 1:1 support and helping them overcome behavioural barriers to learning. The school offers a structured and nurturing environment, where teamwork and consistency are key to success.
Your responsibilities as a Behavioural Support Assistant will include:
Supporting students to manage challenging behaviours using positive strategies
Helping learners engage with the curriculum and build emotional resilience
Assisting with personalised behaviour support plans in collaboration with staff
Encouraging personal development, independence, and confidence
Promoting a calm, safe learning space for all students
To be successful as a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will need:
Experience supporting young people with behavioural or emotional needs
A good understanding of SEMH, ASC, or related additional needs
A calm, proactive, and adaptable approach to support
Strong communication and teamwork skills
An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
