Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs? We're looking for a PMLD Learning Support Assistant to work in a variety of specialist schools across North Bristol, supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a range of additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside dedicated staff in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
About the Role
As a PMLD Learning Support Assistant, your role will include:
Supporting students with complex physical, medical, and sensory needs, including personal care and mobility assistance.
Assisting the class teacher and wider support team in delivering a tailored, accessible curriculum.
Creating a safe, stimulating classroom environment where students can thrive.
Building meaningful relationships with students to support their emotional wellbeing and learning progress.
Using specialist equipment and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory aids) as needed.
About the School(s)
We work with a range of SEND schools and provisions in North Bristol that support pupils with:
PMLD, MLD, ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and SEMH needs
A variety of age groups (typically 4–19)
A strong emphasis on teamwork, inclusivity, and individualised support
Excellent on-site facilities and professional support for staff
✅ Requirements
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
A positive, nurturing, and empathetic approach to working with SEND pupils
Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive attitude
Ideally, access to your own transport or strong public transport links
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
