Job Title: Male Behaviour Support Worker Location: Chorley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary-to-Permanent Start Date: ASAP Salary: £13.75 per hour (depending on experience) Agency: Teaching Personnel Are you a confident, resilient, and patient individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs (SEN)? We are recruiting for a Male Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEN school that supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment where pupils receive tailored support to help them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Role Overview: You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, supporting them to engage positively in their learning, manage their emotions, and develop effective strategies to improve behaviour. Many of the pupils have experienced trauma and require consistent, calm, and firm boundaries from staff they can trust. Essential Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day support for students with SEMH and behavioural needs. De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative and therapeutic approaches. Build strong, professional relationships based on trust, consistency, and respect. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised support plans. Promote emotional wellbeing and model positive behaviour at all times. Requirements: Experience supporting young people with SEMH, ASC or behavioural difficulties (in education, care, or youth work). Strong communication, resilience, and behaviour management skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and use non-confrontational strategies. A genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs.
