Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker Location: Sheffield Salary: £90–£115 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time Are you calm, understanding, and committed to helping students succeed in education despite their difficulties? Do you have a passion for supporting young people with behavioural challenges? GSL Education are seeking a compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join a supportive school in Sheffield. This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning barriers. Position Summary: As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students who may show signs of emotional or behavioural difficulties. Your role will be to help manage and de-escalate challenging situations, support emotional regulation, and promote positive behaviour in and out of the classroom. You will work 1:1 or in small groups to build trusting relationships and help students feel more confident and included in their learning environment. Key Responsibilities—Behavior Support Worker: Provide targeted support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those displaying challenging behaviour, both during lessons and at unstructured times. Collaborate with teaching staff to implement effective behaviour management strategies and deliver tailored interventions. Assist students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and appropriate social interactions. Foster active participation and engagement in learning activities by creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Contribute to the maintenance of a calm, safe, and respectful school setting, promoting positive behaviour at all times. Accurately document behavioural incidents and actively participate in the development and review of individual support plans. Candidate Requirements: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges is desirable Understanding of conditions such as ADHD, Autism, trauma, and anxiety Ability to remain calm and supportive in difficult situations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Resilience, empathy, and a positive approach to problem-solving A good sense of boundaries, patience, and strong team-working skills Must have an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply through GSL Education Why Choose GSL Education?
