Teaching Personnel is recruiting Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work in Newport secondary schools, supporting pupils aged 11–16 with behavioural, emotional and social needs. These roles are ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, and individuals with experience supporting children and young people.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils aged 11–16 with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or challenging behaviour.
Work 1:1 and in small groups to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
Implement behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
Support classroom learning, encourage participation, and ensure pupils remain engaged.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to monitor progress and report concerns.
Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment where every pupil can succeed.
