Job Description

Learning Support Assistant - Specialist SEMH School Location: Enfield Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Hours: Monday-Friday Start Date: ASAP About the Role We are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Enfield, supporting young people aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school provides a highly personalised and supportive environment for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who may experience barriers to learning due to their social, emotional and behavioural needs. As an LSA, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to help pupils access their learning, regulate their emotions, build confidence and make positive academic and personal progress. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1, small-group and classroom support to pupils with SEMH needs. Supporting pupils to engage with lessons and complete learning activities. Adapting your approach to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities. Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy and academic interventions. Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and resilience. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and helping them return to learning following periods of dysregulation. Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils. Supporting teachers with classroom and behaviour management. Using positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies when required. Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries and expectations. Following pupils' EHCPs, individual support plans and behaviour strategies. Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and therapeutic professionals. Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. Following safeguarding procedures at all times. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Patient, resilient and passionate about supporting young people. Confident working with pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. Able to build strong relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Calm and confident when responding to challenging behaviour. Able to encourage and motivate pupils who may struggle to engage with education. Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience within SEMH, SEND, PRUs, Alternative Provisions, mainstream schools, youth work, mentoring, residential care or support work would be highly desirable. Experience with Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour, trauma, emotional regulation or additional learning needs would also be beneficial. Why Apply?
