Job Description

Benefit Assessor Location: The Portal, CH65 0BE Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 2+ Months Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £ 18.00 per hour  Job Ref: (phone number removed) Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and processing housing and planning benefit claims. This role requires a detailed understanding of relevant legislation and policies to ensure accurate and timely benefit assessments. Responsibilities include: Reviewing and verifying documentation submitted by applicants to determine eligibility for benefits. Calculating benefit entitlements in accordance with current regulations and guidelines. Communicating with applicants to gather additional information or clarify discrepancies in their applications. Maintaining accurate records of all assessments and decisions made. Collaborating with other departments and external agencies as needed to support the assessment process. Providing guidance and support to applicants in understanding their benefit entitlements and the application process. Person Specification The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with applicants and colleagues. Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workload efficiently. Proficient in using relevant IT systems and software for data entry and record-keeping. Understanding of relevant housing and planning benefit legislation and policies. Previous experience in a similar role or environment is desirable.
