Job Description

Benefits Manager Location: Southfield Road, Loughborough, LE11 2TU Start Date: ASAP                                                Contract Duration: 2+ Month Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £ 45.00 per hour Job Ref: OR16385 Job Responsibilities Lead and motivate the Benefits teams, ensuring performance targets are met. Manage and report team performance, including mandatory statistical returns. Oversee annual billing for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme. Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and best practices. Handle complex queries and complaints from various stakeholders. Keep staff updated on changes in regulations and provide necessary training. Analyze data to identify training needs and support staff development. Represent the Council at appeal hearings. Promote a culture of fraud and error prevention. Support team members in decision-making on complex cases. Provide expert advice on Local Authority benefits to internal and external parties. Produce reports on Benefits matters for senior management and committees. Identify and implement improvement projects to enhance service delivery. Stay updated with new technology to improve service offerings. Maintain expert knowledge of Benefits systems. Coach and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs. Ensure secure management of information and report any breaches. Undertake additional duties as required. Person Specifications Must Have Strong leadership and motivational skills. Experience in managing team performance and reporting. Knowledge of regulations and policies related to Benefits services. Ability to handle complex queries and complaints. Experience in providing training and development support. Strong analytical skills for data analysis. Experience in report writing and presenting to senior management. Ability to manage information securely. Nice to Have Experience with new technologies to enhance service delivery. Previous experience in a Local Authority benefits environment. Experience with Tribunal Service appeal hearings.
