Job Description

ROLE: Bid Manager LOCATION: Rushden HOURS OF WORK: Days / Hybrid BASIC SALARY: £38K plus (D.O.E) Company Profile We are working with an industry-leading company based in Rushden. The company has built its reputation on close collaboration with its Customers, Material Suppliers and Automation Companies throughout the UK and worldwide through their global Distribution network. Renowned for their commitment to quality and excellence and as part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join their dynamic team. Your responsibilities as a Bid Manager: * Manage the end-to-end quotation process for equipment, systems, and spare parts. * Review tender documents, customer specifications, and enquiry packages to assess scope, risks, and opportunities. * Prepare accurate cost estimates, pricing strategies, and commercial offers in line with company targets and margins. * Ensure quotations are delivered on time, in the correct format, and aligned with customer requirements. * Liaise with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to validate technical solutions and costings. * Support sales managers with technical clarifications during customer discussions. * Develop and implement standardised tools, templates, and processes to improve quotation efficiency and accuracy. * Analyse quotation performance (win/loss rates, margins, response times) to identify trends and improvement opportunities. * Train and mentor quotation engineers or support staff as required. * Balance competitiveness with profitability in pricing strategies. * Maintain accurate records of quotations, costs, and assumptions for future reference. * Support the negotiation phase by providing detailed cost breakdowns and technical justifications when required. To be successful as a Bid Manager you will have: * Proven experience in a quotation, estimating or proposal’s role within an engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally involving systems, equipment, or spare parts. * Strong understanding of tendering processes and commercial proposals in a B2B or industrial setting. * Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement and sales. * Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, drawings and specifications. * Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline. (Desirable) * Familiarity with ERP systems and quotation software/tools. * Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail. * Strong communication skills – able to convey technical and commercial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Organised and methodical approach to work with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. * Competent in preparing and reviewing detailed cost estimates and pricing structures. * Ability to identify risks and opportunities within enquiries and tender packages. * Skilled in developing tools, templates, and processes to improve team efficiency.
