At Education Consultancy Services Ltd, we are a specialist consultancy delivering expert support to the education sector across the UK. With a strong reputation for securing funding, managing capital works, and delivering impactful projects, we continue to grow our client base, particularly among multi-academy trusts and maintained schools.
Our work directly contributes to improving the environments where young people learn and teachers thrive. As demand increases, we are expanding our team and currently seeking an experienced and driven Bid Writer to join our dedicated consultancy team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support schools and academies across the UK by developing high-quality, persuasive funding bids, helping secure much-needed capital investment in their facilities.
You’ll work closely with our education clients, surveyors, and senior team to produce funding submissions (e.g. CIF, Urgent Capital Support, Salix, and other DfE streams). Your writing will play a direct role in driving real-world improvements for schools, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bid Writer at ECS, your core responsibilities will include:
* Researching, drafting, and developing compelling and evidence-based funding applications for schools and academies
* Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather technical and contextual information
* Translating complex technical reports and survey data into accessible and persuasive written content
* Managing the bid submission process, including quality assurance and meeting strict deadlines
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant education funding streams, DfE guidance, and policy priorities
* Assisting with post-submission clarifications or appeals as required
* Supporting the refinement and development of bid templates, tools, and processes
Essential Requirements
To thrive in this role, you will be a confident, collaborative, and detail-oriented professional with:
* Proven experience writing successful funding bids or proposals, ideally in the public sector, education, or construction
* Excellent written English, with strong attention to detail and the ability to craft persuasive narratives
* Ability to interpret and translate technical documents (e.g. condition surveys, cost plans, statutory compliance) into clear, compelling content
* Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
* A proactive, self-motivated approach and willingness to take ownership of outcomes
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience using bid/tender platforms is a plus
Desirable:
* Familiarity with CIF, DfE capital funding streams, or public procurement processes
* Experience working within or alongside the education or consultancy sectors
