Job Description

Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a very well-established, PE backed business based in Manchester City Centre to appoint a Billing Manager. The business has grown significantly over the last 2-3 years and are now consolidating and focusing on aligning processes and growing the team. This role will ensure the billing process is aligned, accurate and compliant across the company’s various service offerings. The role ensures revenue is reported accurately and the client is always satisfied by ensuring financial integrity. You will manage 1-2 people across the end-to-end billing process, ensuring discrepancies are resolved and will lead on continuous process improvements. Salary and Benefits: Salary £40,000 - £45,000 DOE – could stretch higher for enhanced experience. Hybrid working 3 days in the office, 22 days holiday (rising to 25 with service), plus banks and your birthday off. Pension, health care and city centre location with fantastic tram/train/bus links. Key responsibilities: Oversee weekly and monthly billing cycles, ensuring invoices are accurate, compliant, and issued on schedule. Maintain and update product pricing lists to support accurate billing and reliable revenue reporting. Partner with finance, sales, and customer service teams to identify and resolve billing queries or discrepancies. Collaborate with Sales Operations to manage and renew contracts, preventing revenue leakage. Reconcile billing data with contracts and supplier records to confirm correct billing volumes Lead, coach, and develop the billing team, setting clear objectives and KPIs to drive performance. Manage and enhance billing systems, ensuring adherence to UK financial regulations and internal audit standards. Produce monthly billing reports and dashboards for senior management review. Analyse billing performance and trends, highlighting anomalies and recommending corrective actions. Design and implement billing policies and procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control. Monitor accounts receivable and proactively follow up on overdue balances. Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to the billing team to maintain high standards and consistency. Professional qualification and competencies: Preferably 3-5+ years in a billing role. Managerial experience would be preferred but not essential. Experience with billing software and an intermediate level of competency with Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of VAT and UK accounting principles. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail while working to strict deadlines. Confident and collaborative, keen to build internal relationships.
