Job Description
Bioprocess Engineer – Microbial Upstream Processing
📍 Switzerland | On-site only | Contract until August 2026
We are looking for a Bioprocess Engineer to join a world-class biopharmaceutical manufacturing organisation. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for microbial upstream processing (USP) or media preparation, ensuring processes are robust, compliant, and continuously improved in a GMP-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process Ownership
Act as the SME for assigned media preparation or upstream unit operations.
Monitor and optimise process performance to meet quality, yield, and efficiency targets.
Maintain and update process documentation, including SOPs and electronic batch records.
Process Implementation & Adaptation
Lead or support the introduction of new processes and modifications to existing ones.
Investigate deviations, perform root cause analyses, and implement CAPAs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Ensure timely closure of batch and deviation records in line with GMP requirements.
Campaign Learning & Execution
Participate in complete manufacturing campaigns from preparation through to batch release.
Apply insights from campaign execution to enhance process control and performance.
Provide on-call technical support to production shifts when required.
Facilitate effective knowledge transfer to ensure consistent process understanding across teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
1–3+ years’ experience in bioprocessing or GMP manufacturing (preferred).
Strong understanding of biologics manufacturing principles and GMP compliance.
Familiarity with DeltaV and Syncade/electronic batch execution systems is advantageous.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Fluent English (German beneficial).
On-site only – no remote work available.
