A thriving academy with a strong outdoor education focus in Yeovil is seeking a Biology Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join their immersive and supportive faculty from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for those who love combining classroom teaching with field-based exploration.
About the School
The academy blends traditional academic focus with outdoor learning embedded in geography and biology. Staff are supported with weekly coaching, rural trip support, and a well-resourced ECT programme.
Biology Department
With greenhouses, wildlife patches, and invertebrate labs, the department delivers field-led learning alongside classroom work. You’ll guide students through human biology, ecology, and biotechnology content at KS3 and KS4.
Your Role
Lesson plan classroom and outdoor biology sessions; support local field trips and citizen‑science projects; assess and offer feedback for exam qualifications; run clubs (e.g., Eco Club); and progress through an ECT path including reflection tasks, mentor check-ins, and team teaching.
Ideal Candidate
You hold a relevant Biology degree and expectation to qualify by July 2025. You’re practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic about supporting exploration-based learning. You communicate well and enjoy collaborative planning.
