Biology Technician

Location: Sheffield
 Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (ASAP - End of Academic Year)
 Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm

About the Role

Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Sheffield to recruit a dedicated and organised Biology Technician to support a busy and dynamic Science department. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible and continuing until the end of the academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail to play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for Biology lessons
Supporting teachers and students during practical experiments
Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring it is clean, safe, and ready for use
Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and keeping accurate records
Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the laboratory
Providing general administrative support to the Science department as required

The Ideal Candidate

Has previous experience working in a laboratory or school science department (desirable)
Holds a relevant science qualification or has a strong background in Biology
Is highly organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Has a proactive approach and can work independently as well as part of a team
Demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety procedures
Has an enhanced DBS on the update service (or is willing to obtain one)
