Bookkeeper - Hybrid - Bury (Holcombe Brook)
Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 (DOE) Hybrid: 4 days office/client site, 1 day WFH (after probation) Excellent team culture * Strong development environment * Varied client portfolio
MPJ Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a rapidly growing and forward‑thinking accountancy practice in North Manchester as they expand their bookkeeping team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, detail‑driven Bookkeeper who enjoys autonomy, variety, and building strong client relationships.
You'll manage your own portfolio of medium‑sized business clients across the Northwest, ensuring their bookkeeping and management accounting needs are delivered to a high standard. Although the role is fast‑paced, you'll receive a full handover and client‑specific training to help you settle in quickly.
⭐ What's on Offer
Salary £27,000 - £31,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working: 4 days office/client site, 1 day WFH after probation
25 days holiday + bank holidays (33 total)

🧩 Key Responsibilities
Managing purchase and sales ledgers
Raising and entering invoices in Sage or Xero
Processing sales and purchase orders
Completing bank reconciliations
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Ensuring compliance with strict HMRC deadlines
Working with multiple currencies, bank accounts, departments, and CIS (beneficial)
Producing accounts to trial balance (beneficial)
General day‑to‑day accounts and office duties, including maintaining accurate records and timely data entry
🎓 Skills & Experience Required
AAT qualified
Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar bookkeeping role
Strong communication skills
Confident working both in the office and off‑site at client premises
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
