Job Description

Role: Bookkeeper Location: Dudley DY2 Contract: Permanent Salary: Up to £30,000 dependent on experience Benefits: Free parking, 33.5 hour working week and enhanced holiday We are working on behalf of an established accountancy practice, who are looking to expand their team with the addition of an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant. You will be working as part of a team of 7 reporting into the Director. You will play a key role in preparing and finalising accounts, processing tax returns, and handling VAT submissions. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships and providing proactive support across all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy practice environment, managing a varied client portfolio and delivering accurate client support. The successful candidate will be have relevant experience in a similar role, ideally level 4 AAT qualified (or equivalent), with advanced Excel skills and experience using Sage cloud based accounting software. As a Bookkeeper, this is initially a full time office based role working 33.5 hours weekly between Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:00pm and Friday 8:30am–12:00pm. After successful completion of probation period, there will be an option to work from home 1 day per week. Role and responsibilities: * Responsibility for managing a portfolio of SME clients across various industries. * Process and submit VAT returns accurately and on time. * Prepare and finalise year-end accounts. * Complete and file self-assessment and corporation tax returns. * Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile accounts using Sage Cloud-based systems. * Provide advice and support to clients on accounting and tax matters. * Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and deadlines. * Liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders as required. * Support the Director of the practice with adhoc duties as required. Skills and experience required: * AAT qualified (or equivalent) essential * Experience working within an accountancy practice essential * Previous demonstrable experience as a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant * Strong knowledge of VAT, tax returns, and year-end accounts preparation * Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills * Ability to manage a client portfolio and work to strict deadlines * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Experience of cloud-based accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) Benefits: * Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) * 31 days holiday including Bank Holidays * Full-time office-based role with the opportunity to work from home 1 day per week after successful completion of probation * Opportunities for continued professional development and potential study support * Free onsite parking * Birthday as an extra day holiday after 1 year service If you are an you are an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant, looking to join a fun friendly and established Accountancy practice in Dudley then please click to apply
