Location: Brownhills
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
Hours: Mon- Thu 07:00-16:30, Fri 07:00 - 14:15
Job Type: Temp to Perm (or Permanent for the Right Candidate)
Recruit Central is looking for a skilled Manual Lathe Turner / Borer to join our client’s dynamic and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work with precision machinery, delivering high-quality components in a supportive and professional environment.
Overview
The successful candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on fabrication experience, and the ability to operate manual lathes and borers with accuracy and efficiency. You will be a key contributor in ensuring production targets are met, components are made to exacting standards, and machinery is well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities

Operate manual lathes and borers to produce precision components to specification
*
Carry out fabrication tasks, including milling
*
Read and interpret technical drawings
*
Handle and store materials safely and efficiently
*
Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and tools
*
Collaborate with colleagues to resolve production issues
*
Maintain accurate production and materials records
*
Apply sound mathematical skills for measurement and calculation
Requirements
*
Proven experience operating manual lathes and borers
*
Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to read technical drawings
*
Familiarity with PLCs (advantageous)
*
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software (advantageous)
*
Experience in materials handling, tooling, and hand tools
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills
*
Proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent attention to detail
