BSL Teaching Assistant
📍 Lambeth | Full-time or Part-time | Term-time only | ASAP or January 2026 start
Pertemps Education is seeking a skilled and dedicated BSL (British Sign Language) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive special needs school in Lambeth. This role is ideal for someone with BSL Level 2 or above who is passionate about supporting deaf or hearing-impaired students to access learning and communication across the curriculum.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils who use BSL as their primary means of communication.
Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials to meet individual needs.
Use sign language and visual aids to help pupils engage with classroom activities and social interaction.
Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and language therapists, and specialist staff to promote inclusion and progress.
Support pupils’ emotional well-being and independence in a nurturing and structured learning environment.The Ideal Candidate:
Holds a minimum of BSL Level 2 qualification (Level 3 preferred).
Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired children or young people in an educational setting.
Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong communication-based relationships.
Team player with a genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs.The School Offers:
