A specialist primary school in Camden is seeking a dedicated and experienced BSL (British Sign Language) Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team full-time from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with hearing impairments.

We are partnered with a well-regarded specialist primary school committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils. To support this, we are looking for a passionate BSL Teaching Assistant who can bring expertise and enthusiasm to the classroom.
Essential Requirements:
*
A strong working knowledge of British Sign Language (minimum Level 2 preferred)
*
Personal or professional experience supporting children with hearing impairments
*
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
*
A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude
*
Right to work in the UK
Daily Duties Will Include:
*
Supporting pupils with hearing impairments to access the curriculum using BSL
*
Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities
*
Translating spoken English into BSL during lessons, assemblies, and group activities
*
Encouraging communication through both sign and speech, depending on the pupil’s needs
*
Providing 1:1 or small group support for targeted intervention and reinforcement
*
Helping pupils to develop social skills and emotional regulation through play and structured activities
*
Monitoring and recording pupil progress and sharing feedback with the teacher and SENCO
*
Assisting with the setup of classroom materials and ensuring all resources are accessible to hearing-impaired pupils
*
Promoting inclusion and participation during all school activities, including outdoor play and lunchtime
*
Attending regular training and meetings to ensure best practice in supporting pupils with hearing needs
*
Safeguarding the wellbeing of all pupils and maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment
