Building Control Team Leader / Principal Inspector | £55,000-£60,000 | Mentorship & Technical Leadership Role An ambitious city is seeking a confident, experienced Building Control Team Leader / Principal Inspector to lead on complex cases, mentor colleagues, and help deliver safe, high-quality development across a rapidly growing urban environment. This is a unique opportunity to lead from within-using experience, support, and technical skill to guide the future of Building Control. The Role Sitting just beneath the Building Control Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role that blends senior technical oversight with hands-on team support. Key responsibilities include: Leading on complex and high-risk Building Control cases Acting as the senior technical reference for a team of inspectors Mentoring, guiding, and supporting team development Working collaboratively with developers, architects, and internal stakeholders Driving high standards of safety, compliance, and service Supporting the evolution of team practices, standards, and strategic directionThe Ideal Candidate Applicants must be a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) at Class 2D or above, with: Significant experience in Building Control and technical compliance Strong mentoring skills and a collaborative leadership style Excellent judgement and problem-solving abilities Confidence in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional working A calm, positive, solutions-focused mindset Commitment to high professional standards and service qualityThe Offer Salary: £55,000-£60,000 per annum, with potential for additional payments based on experience and market conditions.
