Job Description

Building Fabric Engineer | Remedial Works | Commercial Environments | £38-40K Base, OTE: £50K-65K | Paid Weekly. Due to increase demand in remedial workload, we are actively seeking a Building Fabric Engineer to complete a wide range of Multi Trade / Building Fabric related duties within the commercial building services / maintenance industry. Multi Trade / Building Fabric related works for the Building Fabric Engineer will include carpentry, plumbing, tiling, light roofing and other general building related works. As the Building Fabric Engineer / Maintenance Multi Trader, you will be working on a mobile basis, across commercial properties (pubs, restaurants, retail stores, coffee shops, supermarkets, gyms etc) within the West London, South West London, North West London and Berkshire regions, likely in the following postcode areas: UB, W, SW, TW, SL, NW, RG, WD, HA etc. Employment Package: * Status: Permanent, PAYE position, paid weekly. * Base Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 * £50-65K Estimated annual earnings inclusive of overtime, call out etc (dependant on optional overtime volume). * Location / Patch: Postcodes may include; UB, W, SW, TW, SL, NW, RG, WD, HA etc. * Provided: Company van, fuel card, pension, uniform, phone, paid holidays etc. * Overtime rates: x1.5 rate Monday - Saturday until midnight. X2 rate overnight or all day Sunday & Bank Holidays. * Call out rota: 1 in 4 weeks; £75 per call out + overtime rates after first hour. * Holidays: 29 days - 21 + bank holidays + days off in leiu if your call out falls on BH. Workload / Duties: As a multi skilled / multi trade, Building Fabric Engineer, we would expect you to be comfortable with the following work load, working predominately on an independent basis. * Patch repairs – walls, ceilings, doors, tiles, minor surface works. * Painting & decorating – emulsion, gloss, stain-block touch-ups (small-scale). * Basic carpentry – doors, locks, handles, general timber repairs, fixtures and fittings, door closing systems, boxing in etc. * Minor plumbing – leaking taps, blockages, toilet seat and flush repairs, re-sealing sinks/showers/urinals, water heater repairs. * Ceiling tile replacement – grid ceiling tile refits and grid frame adjustments. * Ceiling / roofing – leak detection, leak repair, leak prevention. * Furniture repairs/assembly – fixing or assembling commercial furniture and fittings. * Tiling repairs – wall or floor tile re-fits or re-grouting. * Boarding up – secure broken doors/windows or damaged areas to make safe. * General building fabric works – fitting signs, noticeboards, dispensers, and protection items. Requirements: * Must be comfortable carrying out general building maintenance works and carrying out the above duties / workload, predominately on an independent basis. * Must have a full UK driving license with under 9 points. * Must be available for 1 in 4 on call rota. * Experience working on a reactive / remedial basis is highly preferable. * Experience working within commercial environments is highly preferable, even more so; retail stores, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, gyms etc. Why this role is attractive? * Large, well established business: over 30 years in operation, 250+ staff, 50+ permanent multi traders / remedial engineers. * Large amounts of available overtime for un-capped earnings. * Weekly pay schedule - rare for permanent roles. * Large mix of works - keeping it interesting everyday with minor repairs, major repairs and quoted project works. * Company funded courses, qualifications, training and up-skilling with genuine career progression. * Work for a business who value its staff - regular, un-prompted pay reviews, staff flexibility etc. * Sensible patch - Maximum 50 mile radius, realistically less than this.
