Building Regulations / CDM Principal Designer required to join a multidisciplinary engineering and professional services organisation.

The business has delivered CDM Principal Designer services for many years and is now growing and delivering the BRPD service.
The successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of projects, providing specialist advice to clients, designers and project teams while supporting compliance with the Building and CDM Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as Principal Designer in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
* Undertake Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) duties and support clients in meeting their obligations under the Building Regulations.
* Provide competent design risk management advice throughout the project lifecycle.
* Coordinate and manage design risk, ensuring risks are eliminated, reduced or controlled wherever reasonably practicable.
* Review design proposals, drawings and specifications to identify health, safety and regulatory risks.
* Advise clients, designers and contractors on CDM and Building Regulations compliance.
* Prepare and review relevant documentation, including pre-construction information and design risk registers.
* Facilitate design risk workshops and coordinate health and safety information between project stakeholders.
* Support project teams in maintaining appropriate records and demonstrating compliance.
* Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, clients and other duty holders.
* Keep up to date with changes to CDM, Building Regulations and associated legislation and guidance.
* Contribute to the development of best practice across the wider health and safety and design management teams.
Experience
* Proven experience undertaking CDM Principal Designer responsibilities.
* Practical experience or strong knowledge of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role.
* Strong understanding of the CDM Regulations 2015 and associated Approved Codes of Practice/guidance.
* Good working knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant Building Regulations requirements.
* Experience reviewing designs and managing design-related health and safety risks.
* Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.
* The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
* Strong report-writing, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications & Professional Memberships
Candidates should ideally hold a relevant degree or professional qualification in Health & Safety, Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Building Surveying or a related discipline.
Desirable qualifications and memberships include:
* APS/RIBA membership or equivalent highly desirable.
* Relevant professional qualification with ICE, RIBA, CIOB, CIBSE, RICS or another recognised construction/design institution – advantageous.
