Job Description

BDS is seeking an experienced and qualified Building Safety Surveyor to join our clients team in Norwich, focusing on residential properties in the local region. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in building surveying, with a particular focus on Building Safety and be capable of expert witness work. The role will be responsible for a new functional requirement of Building Safety legislation. We are taking a proactive approach to assessing and ensuring all relevant fire doors in our buildings are managed and maintained in a serviceable condition. Key Responsibilities: * Conduct Inspections: To carry out fire door surveys by assessing the condition and life expectancy of the attributes based on a conditional maintenance approach and correcting/advising as necessary. * Prepare Reports: report any repairs that are identified and required to ensure we always maintain our homes or communal areas to the highest standard. This includes the logging and monitoring of repairs in line with our repairs policies. * Consultation and Recommendations: Discuss findings, advising on required actions to address disrepair and prevent future issues. * Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on building regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices to deliver the highest level of service. Qualifications and Experience: * Previous experience of building surveyor experience with knowledge of Stock Condition Surveys for social housing * Previous experience of Fire Doors Inspections and good understanding of Fire Doors & Fire Stopping principles (Desirable but not essential) * FIRAS/BM TRADA or equivalent (Desirable but not essential) * Working knowledge of current Building Safety, Health & Safety, and other relevant legislation * A high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility, and a self-motivating approach. Initially 3 days possibly being increased to 4 days, dependant on business need – 9am to 5pm with a 45-minute unpaid break. £22.27 PAYE or £30.62 UMB Ongoing until atleast March 2026. Please note; This role will be covering Norwich and the surrounding Norfolk and Suffolk areas. A driving licence will be required for this role.
