Job Description

Building Surveyor Location: Swindon area (site-based with flexibility) Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, project-driven environment? We’re seeking a motivated and capable Building Surveyor to join a team focused on delivering capital and planned maintenance projects across a diverse property portfolio, including listed and operational buildings. Key Responsibilities: * Manage capital investment and maintenance projects from feasibility through to completion. * Prepare technical designs, detailed specifications, and tender documents. * Conduct a wide range of building surveys, including condition, dilapidation, and structural assessments. * Ensure full compliance with relevant planning, building regulations, CDM 2015, and health & safety standards. * Engage with tenants, leaseholders, and property users throughout the project lifecycle. * Monitor performance against KPIs, ensuring high levels of service and customer satisfaction. * Lead meetings, site inspections, and support training/mentoring of junior staff. Essential Skills & Experience: * Proven track record delivering capital and maintenance projects. * Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design tools. * Strong understanding of construction health & safety, asbestos legislation, and building compliance. * Ability to identify defects and implement remedial solutions (building pathology). * Experience with procurement processes and budget management. * Clear written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Qualifications Required: * HNC in Building Studies (or equivalent) * Accredited Health & Safety qualification * Full UK driving licence Additional Info: * Site visits may involve working at height, in roof spaces, or confined areas. * Occasional out-of-hours meetings or inspections may be required. * You’ll be expected to promote best practice in equality, diversity, and customer service.
