Job Description

Building Surveyor Location: Darby Close, Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, SN2 2PN Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 6+ Months Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £ 39.55 per hour  Job Ref: OR10338 Responsibilities Deliver capital and planned maintenance projects for corporate and listed buildings. Prepare briefs, develop design and technical design, and administer construction contracts through to handover and closeout. Engage with customers, tenants, and leaseholders. Prepare feasibility studies, develop new initiatives, and produce detailed specifications and design solutions for modernization and improvement projects. Conduct various building surveys, including condition surveys, schedules of condition, dilapidation surveys, and structural surveys, and prepare written reports. Manage expenditure within budget and in accordance with financial regulations. Ensure building work complies with Health and Safety regulations. Manage performance to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. Prepare detailed programs of works and ensure value for money services. Attend meetings with tenants, leaseholders, and building users and provide necessary advice. Supervise and train new staff, work placements, or agency staff. Participate in equality and diversity training and continuous professional development. Promote equality and diversity best practices. Discuss personal training needs with line manager and participate in appraisals. Comply with Health & Safety regulations and report any hazardous situations. Respond to correspondence from tenants, leaseholders, and Council members regarding maintenance works. Attend and present reports at public meetings outside normal working hours. Provide evidence to relevant authorities and attend court as a witness if necessary. Person Specification Significant experience in delivering capital and planned maintenance projects. Experience with e-procurement and budget management. Knowledge of construction health and safety, including the 2015 CDM regulations. Proficiency in AutoCAD for design drawings. Understanding of planning, listed building consent, and building regulation legislation. Commitment to partnership working and engaging service users in service development. Ability to work efficiently and develop new working practices. Knowledge of Control of Asbestos Regulations and building pathology. HNC in Building Studies and an accredited qualification in AutoCAD or equivalent. Current driving license and accredited qualification in Health and Safety.
