Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Building Surveyor to join an established Building Surveying team. This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career within a leading, multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering a variety of local and national projects.
You’ll work across multiple sectors including residential, education, public buildings, healthcare, retail, and commercial property. From major developments worth over £30 million to smaller bespoke schemes.
Key Responsibilities
*
Manage client relationships and deliver high-quality surveying services.
*
Provide expert advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of a wide range of buildings.
*
Undertake condition and building surveys and produce detailed technical reports.
*
Ensure compliance with current building regulations and technical standards.
*
Prepare specifications, obtain tenders, plan maintenance programmes, and administer maintenance contracts.
*
Diagnose and report on building defects and recommend remedial solutions.
*
Handle insurance claims and loss adjuster negotiations, including preparation of drawings and specifications for repair works.
*
Prepare schedules of dilapidations and condition reports.
*
Act as quality monitor on various schemes, including housing projects.
*
Lead and manage design teams on extensions, refurbishments, and new build developments (£50k–£4m).
*
Deal with Party Wall matters including Notices, Schedules of Condition, and Awards.
*
Coordinate multidisciplinary design services and ensure project quality.
*
Mentor and guide junior surveyors, ensuring consistent technical excellence.
About You
*
MRICS qualified (essential).
*
Previous experience working in a consultancy environment.
*
Excellent technical knowledge across all aspects of building surveying.
*
Strong client-facing and communication skills.
*
Capable of managing team members and providing project guidance.
*
Analytical, detail-focused, and confident producing professional reports and recommendations.
