Building Surveyor - Social Housing (Islington)
Location: Islington, London
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months minimum)
Rate: Up to £25/hour
Travel: Own vehicle required (business mileage reimbursed)
We are currently looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our team on a social housing contract in Islington. This is a temporary role lasting a minimum of 3 to 6 months, with a strong likelihood of extension. The position is available due to the current surveyor being unwell, and we're seeking someone who can step in to maintain continuity of service.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess the condition of buildings, identify defects, and provide recommendations for repair, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
Manage reactive major repair projects (from flooring to full roof renewals)
Maintain strong awareness of health & safety regulations, spotting and addressing potential hazards
Manage sub-contractors on site
Carry out spot inspections and post-inspections of works completed
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Proven experience working in the social housing sector
Ability to manage and inspect contractors effectively
Background in a trade (preferred but not essential)
Relevant Health & Safety qualifications: Working at Height, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness
