Shillito Executive Search are the retained and exclusive recruitment partner of a South Yorkshire based manufacturing business as they look to recruit a Business Development Director.
Easily accessible from the M1 and M18, the business has been established for over 30 years and are a market leader within their sector.
We're looking for a commercially driven Business Development Director to lead the national sales efforts and play a critical role in our continued growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role with the responsibility to both win major contracts directly and inspire a high-performing sales team.
You will be focused on penetrating Tier 1 construction contractors-especially those in the social housing (repair, maintenance, improvement) space-while ensuring excellent pipeline conversion and internal coordination.
Duties of the role will include:
Overseeing a team of 4-5 Business Development Managers across the UK
Personally secure major contracts and develop key customer relationships
Use lead generation tools to identify and convert opportunities
Build strategic relationships with Tier 1 construction and refurbishment contractors
Set clear KPIs and coach the team to exceed performance targets
Coordinate closely with internal sales, estimating, and operations teams within the manufacturing sites
Act as the voice of the customer within the businessWe're looking for someone with:
We're looking for someone who brings:
A strong background in B2B sales or business development in construction, manufacturing, or compliance-driven sectors
Proven leadership of successful sales teams
First-hand experience closing complex, high-value deals
An existing network or the ability to open doors with Tier 1 contractors
Excellent commercial awareness, influencing, and negotiation skills
