Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager; to held spearhead their expansion efforts across their extended packaging portfolio. You will have a ‘hands on” ambitious and commercially astute outlook, combined with the ability to be open minded and tenacious in your approach.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in sales, with a focus on selling packaging in one of the above fields and demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in a start-up environment. You will engage both commercially and technically with customers, work independently and be prepared to travel nationally and occasionally internationally.
You will have a background in one of the industries: Packaging (Distribution), Packaging (Food service), Packaging (Retail, Wholesale, Grocery) or have direct knowledge in one of the product categories, having sold it in a commercial format: (Absorbency, Aluminium, Paper [packaging], Plastics [Flexibles] or medical packaging.
Responsibilities:
* Identify and develop new business opportunities within your division opening new commercial channels and selling packaging or FMCG products.
* Develop and execute on a business plan to maximise your division
* Expand the profile and reach of the company through new connections
* Track emerging markets and trends, to create opportunities for development
* Manage clear goals for performance and growth, with target channel strategy
* Manage your pipeline, ensuring enough top of funnel to achieve commercial success
* Help prepare content and the development of pitches and company profile information
* Effectively manage your time between desk outreach, Customer visits and account closing
* Implement initiatives that focus on meeting growing business needs
* Support a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation, with an emphasis on embracing technology to maximise efficiency
* Ensure housekeeping within work area is maintained at the highest-level ensuring adherence to required standards at all times
* Ensure and maintain a safe working environment by adherence to HSE requirements
* To carry out or assist with any duties as deemed necessary in connection with the business
Requirements:
* Proven work experience within a business development role.
* Recently worked for a manufacturer, distributor, or wholesaler of FMCG/Packaging or consumer goods.
* Demonstrated ability to develop new business and grow a market presence.
* Entrepreneurial – you must have a passion for achieving goals and taking ownership of what you do
* Demonstrates a good sense of priorities, structures workload effectively and delivers consistently good results
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
* Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a start-up-like environment.
* Self-driven and results-oriented leader with a passion for achieving and exceeding goals.
* Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for client meetings, events, and other business needs.
* Experience of supporting the pitch process for New Business
* Business and financial awareness
* Attention to detail across all aspects of the role
* Flexible & adaptable to the changing requirements of the business
