Business Development Manager 

 Up to £55K plus benefits 

Location: Hitchin

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a growing manufacturing business. You will be responsible for leading the Account Management team, developing long-term customer relationships, driving profitable growth, and identifying new business opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background and proven sales leadership experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities as a Business Development Manager

Lead, mentor and develop a team of Account Managers to achieve sales and business objectives.
Manage and grow existing customer accounts while identifying opportunities for additional business.
Prepare and oversee quotations for existing and prospective customers, ensuring all opportunities are followed up.
Manage the contract review process, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
Liaise with procurement, production and other internal departments to ensure customer delivery expectations are achieved.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across customer organisations.
Conduct regular customer business reviews to identify growth opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
Work alongside the Head of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies that support long-term business growth.
Identify and secure new business opportunities through market research, lead generation and networking.
Monitor sales performance against agreed targets and implement actions to achieve or exceed objectives.Skills & Experience as a Business Development Manager

Previous experience in Account Management, Sales or Business Development within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Experience leading or developing a sales or account management team.
Strong technical understanding, ideally within electrical engineering, contract manufacturing or a similar industry.
Proven success in developing customer relationships and achieving sales targets.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Strong commercial awareness and sound business decision-making ability.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Self-motivated with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
