Job Title: Business Development Manager Location: North West, UK (Manchester / Liverpool / Cheshire / Lancashire – regional travel required) Salary: Competitive base salary + commission/bonus + car allowance + benefits Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Reporting to: Managing Director / Commercial Director Company Overview: We are a leading specialist remediation contractor based in the North West, delivering innovative and sustainable land remediation, earthworks, and enabling works solutions for a range of clients in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. As part of our strategic growth, we are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager who thrives on winning work, building client relationships, and driving revenue. This role is ideal for a tenacious, well-connected individual with a hunter mindset and a proven track record of securing work in the civil engineering or remediation sector. Role Overview: As Business Development Manager, your primary objective will be to identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities with developers, consultants, and main contractors. You will also be responsible for nurturing existing client relationships and contributing to the company’s long-term commercial strategy. Key Responsibilities: * Proactively identify and target new business opportunities within the North West and surrounding regions * Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including land developers, consultants, local authorities, and main contractors * Secure inclusion on tender lists and preferred supplier frameworks * Arrange and attend client meetings, networking events, industry expos, and site visits * Work closely with estimating and operations teams to prepare compelling proposals and bids * Monitor market activity, competitor movements, and project pipelines * Input into marketing strategies, campaigns, and thought leadership to support lead generation * Manage CRM records, sales forecasts, and reporting to senior leadership * Help shape the company’s business development and growth strategy Requirements: Essential: * Proven track record in a business development role for a civil engineering, groundworks, or remediation contractor * Strong network of client and consultant contacts in the North West construction and development sectors * Demonstrable success in identifying and securing profitable new contracts or frameworks * Commercially astute with an understanding of contract structures and procurement routes * Confident, driven, and self-motivated with a genuine hunter instinct for business generation * Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills * Willingness to travel across the North West and attend relevant industry events * Full UK driving licence Desirable: * Background in technical sales or pre-construction * Understanding of contaminated land, brownfield development, or environmental risk management * Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce) What We Offer: * Competitive salary + uncapped performance-related bonus * Company car or car allowance * Pension scheme * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Flexible, supportive working environment * Opportunity to influence business strategy and growth
