Business Development Manager Job in Blandford - Marine, Renewable Energy, or Civil Engineering industry focus

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a proactive and strategic Business Development Manager with proven experience in the marine, renewable energy, or civil engineering sectors. This Business Development Manager role is crucial in supporting the continued success by managing existing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and contributing to the overall strategic development of the company. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for deepening client engagement, developing a robust pipeline, and converting opportunities into long-term, high-value partnerships.
Salary and Benefits:
* A salary of £36,000 - £45,000 base, plus commission
* Office, hybrid or remote working options available
* Working Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 4.30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Retain and grow relationships with existing clients across key sectors (marine, renewable energy, civil engineering).
* Conduct an in-depth onboarding review of key clients, including project history, sector-specific challenges, and potential areas for value creation.
* Drive client retention through consistent, high-quality engagement and service delivery.
* Monitor and proactively manage client health and satisfaction using client scorecards and feedback loops.
* Ensure contract renewals and renegotiations are initiated well before expiry.
* Maintain consistent communication via email, phone, Teams, and in-person meetings.
* Develop simple quarterly client reports focused on sector-specific deliverables, KPIs, and ROI.
* Represent at related industry conferences, exhibitions, and technical forums.
* Win new clients in targeted sectors, aligned with growth strategy.
* Build and manage a pipeline of high-quality leads, mapped to strategic objectives.
* Coordinate with the marketing team to tailor outreach campaigns and events toward your sectors.
* Research industry trends, competitors, and upcoming projects to identify opportunities.
* Prepare compelling, technically informed proposals, pitches, and client agreements that reflect deep understanding of project lifecycles.
* Lead business development meetings, presentations, and bid support activities.
Minimum Skills and Experience Required:
* 3–7 years of business development, sales, or client relationship experience in one or more of the associated industries: Marine , Renewable energy, Civil engineering
* Proven track record of winning new business and retaining key accounts
* Familiarity with procurement cycles and bidding processes in public or private sector infrastructure projects
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
* Strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities and follow through to execution
* Degree in engineering, business, environmental science, or related field desirable
* Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
