We're looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team, based in Sunderland covering the whole of the Northeast coast, from Blyth down to Humberside. We are looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to lead business development efforts for our recruitment services. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and securing high-value clients, primarily at the senior leadership and C-suite level. You will work closely with internal search consultants to craft bespoke talent solutions and establish long-term partnerships with organizations seeking exceptional leadership talent. The ideal candidate has a strong background in B2B consultative sales, preferably, but not essential within the recruitment sector, or executive search, or professional services, or HR solutions space. What You’ll Do: * Identify and engage new clients needing executive-level recruitment solutions * Sell retained/contingent executive search services to CHROs, CEOs, and Boards * Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior stakeholders * Collaborate with internal search consultants to deliver bespoke solutions * Create and present tailored proposals, pitches, and RFP responses * Stay on top of market trends, leadership moves, and competitor activity * Use CRM tools to track pipelines, forecast deals, and report performance * Proactively identify and approach target clients in need of senior and executive-level talent. * Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities through networking, outbound outreach, events, and referrals. * Lead the sales cycle from initial contact through to signed agreement. * Build trusted advisor relationships with senior decision-makers (CEOs, CHROs, Board Members, etc.). * Conduct needs assessments and present tailored executive search solutions. * Act as the primary point of contact throughout the business development process * Develop and execute territory/account plans to meet revenue targets. * Create and deliver compelling proposals, RFP responses, and presentations. * Maintain accurate records of sales activities and forecast revenue using CRM tools. * Partner with search consultants and delivery teams to ensure a seamless client onboarding and handover process. * Provide insights to internal stakeholders on client expectations and market trends. * Stay informed on industry-specific hiring trends, leadership talent needs, and competitor offerings. * Represent the firm at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking functions. What We’re Looking For: * 3+ years of B2B sales experience, including a demonstrable background in how you have been successful, be able to speak fluently, accurately and professionally around the values of these wins and the strategies used to be successful. * Nice to have a strong network of business leaders (bonus if you have C-suite contacts) * Polished communicator with excellent consultative sales skills * Experience working with long sales cycles and high-value service contracts * Proficiency in CRM tools * Own car and licence, mileage and travel al covered by employer * Confident presenting to executive stakeholders Nice to Have: * Experience in retained search or boutique executive search firms * Background selling into industries like Tech, Financial Services, Engineering, Business Services or Professional Services * Understanding of leadership hiring trends, succession planning, and talent strategy What’s In It for You: - Competitive base salary, starting range of base salary between £35000-£45,000 DOE, flexibility to go above this if 100% fit to all of desired criteria - Uncapped commission for every new successful client you bring on board - Flexibility: hybrid or remote work options upon completing probation - Exposure to C-level decision-makers and strategic hiring conversations - Career growth in a fast-scaling business - Potential to grow a BD team nationally if high performing in own role - Opportunities to sell internationally with a focus on the USA market - Supportive, professional, and collaborative team culture
