Monarch Education is supporting a primary school in Birmingham in their search for an experienced Business Manager for a long-term position, with the potential for a permanent appointment for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic professional to make a significant contribution to the school's operational and financial management. We are seeking a highly capable and organised individual with a strong background in business management, ideally within an educational setting. Initially offered on a long-term contract, this role is intended to become a permanent position for the candidate who demonstrates the required skills and fits well within the school community. Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will play a vital role in the school's leadership team, responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the school's resources and operations. As the School Business Manager, your key responsibilities will encompass leading and managing the following critical areas: Financial Management: Overseeing all aspects of the school's finances, including budget setting, monitoring, reporting, payroll, and ensuring sound financial control and compliance with regulations. Human Resources Administration: Managing key HR processes, including recruitment support, contracts, and maintaining accurate staff records. Premises and Facilities: Ensuring the school premises are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations. This includes overseeing maintenance, security, and facilities management. Operational Management: Leading the administrative functions of the school, ensuring efficient systems and processes are in place for areas such as admissions, attendance, and general office administration. Procurement and Contracts: Managing procurement processes and ensuring value for money in all school purchases and contracts. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring the school adheres to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, and contributing to risk assessment and management.We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate: Significant experience in a business management role, with a strong track record, ideally within an educational setting. A comprehensive understanding of school finance, accounting principles, and reporting requirements. Proven experience in strategic financial planning and budget management. A thorough knowledge of premises management, health and safety regulations, and compliance. Experience in leading and managing teams across different functions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, Governors, and external stakeholders. A proactive and strategic approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
