Role Summary
This role offers an opportunity for a Buyer to take ownership of a high-revenue product stream, combining traditional purchasing expertise with strong commercial awareness and data-driven decision-making. The Buyer will be responsible for managing demand, inventory, and supplier performance within a fast-paced environment, ensuring customer commitments are met while driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Role & Responsibilities of the Buyer:
Ensure all purchase orders raised accurately reflect demand and forecasted requirements against agreed stock levels and order quantities, using lean Plan For Every Part (PFEP) technique.
Maintain efficient inventory control through accurate forecasting and timely ordering.
Confirm purchase orders and maintain supplier promise dates to ensure sales order commitments are achieved.
Build and sustain effective supplier relationships, negotiating optimal commercial terms and pricing.
Review the customer order book and expedite supplier purchase orders to ensure on-time shipment of sales orders.
Expedite with suppliers when required and clearly communicate any potential risks or issues to internal stakeholders.
Experience needed:
Experience working as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience using ERP / MRP systems to manage inventory and demand.
Demonstrated capability in driving improvements through PFEP methodologies.
Strong supplier relationship management and effective internal stakeholder communication skills.
Experience expediting orders and validating supplier acknowledgements for accuracy.
Ability to analyse data using Excel to identify supplier performance improvement opportunities.
CIPS qualification or actively working towards one would be advantageous
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 2pm (37.5 per week)
