Job Description
If you’re an experienced Engineering Buyer who can balance strategic sourcing with day-to-day purchasing in a fast-paced technical environment, this is a role where you’ll have real influence on supply chain performance and operational delivery.
This is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business operating within a technical, project-driven environment. The organisation supports complex production requirements and works closely across engineering, production, and quality teams to deliver high-quality products. The culture is collaborative, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and supply chain reliability.
As an Engineering Buyer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced efficiently and delivered on time to support production. This role blends strategic procurement activity with hands-on purchasing responsibilities, giving you broad exposure across the full procurement lifecycle.
You’ll be responsible for developing supplier relationships, managing purchasing activities, and identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Develop sourcing strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery
Raise and manage purchase orders in line with business requirements
Monitor order status and resolve delivery issues or discrepancies
Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure material availability
Conduct supplier benchmarking and market analysis
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Monitor supplier performance and support improvement activities
Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans
Support cost reduction and value improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate procurement records and reportingWhat They’re Looking For
Experience in a Buyer or Engineering Buyer role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Experience managing both strategic sourcing and operational purchasing
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong organisational and communication skills
Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office
Analytical mindset with attention to detail
