Buyer – Civil Engineering / Groundworks

Location: Worsley, Manchester
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Buyer to join a successful and growing civil engineering business.

The successful candidate will support the procurement function, ensuring materials, plant, and services are sourced efficiently and delivered on time to support project delivery.

This role would suit a Buyer with experience within construction, civil engineering, groundworks, or a similar environment who is confident managing supplier relationships, negotiating costs, and working closely with operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  * Managing day-to-day purchasing activities across multiple projects

  * Sourcing materials, plant, and services

  * Obtaining quotations and negotiating best value with suppliers

  * Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships

  * Raising purchase orders and tracking deliveries

  * Ensuring materials are available to meet project requirements

  * Supporting cost control and identifying procurement savings

  * Working closely with commercial and site teams

Requirements

  * Previous experience working as a Buyer within construction, civil engineering, groundworks, or a related industry

  * Strong negotiation and communication skills

  * Good commercial awareness and attention to detail

  * Experience managing supplier relationships

  * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  * Strong organisational and IT skills
