Role Overview The business is seeking a Buyer to join the team and support manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely procurement of raw materials, components, and services. You will work closely with production, planning, engineering, and suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase raw materials, components, equipment, and services aligned with operational needs
Collaborate with production, planning, and engineering to understand material requirements
Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, delivery, and contract terms
Monitor supplier performance to ensure delivery, quality, and cost standards are met
Maintain optimal stock levels to support production while minimising overstock
Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and expedite where needed
Resolve issues related to delays, defects, or invoice discrepancies
Source and qualify new suppliers for improved performance
Maintain procurement records and update ERP/MRP systems accurately
Support cost-saving and lean manufacturing initiatives
What We're Looking For
2–5 years’ experience in a purchasing/buying role within a manufacturing environment (preferred)
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP Business One advantageous)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement is a plus
