Job Summary
We are seeking a Buyer with an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background to join our client’s procurement team. This role will assist in the purchasing of engineering-related products and services, including raw materials, components, and equipment. The Buyer will work closely with the engineering team to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality procurement aligned with project and production needs.
This position is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of engineering processes and terminology. Experience in sourcing or negotiation is a strong advantage, provided the candidate has an engineering background or similar technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Purchasing:
* Assist in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, parts, and services for engineering projects
* Place purchase orders, track order statuses, and manage lead times to meet production schedules
* Support contract and agreement reviews for engineering vendors to ensure compliance with company requirements
Inventory and Cost Management:
* Monitor and manage inventory levels for engineering materials to avoid production delays
* Analyse costs and suggest cost-saving initiatives to ensure purchases are within budget
Cross-functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure materials are ordered in a timely manner
* Support the engineering team with market research and sourcing options for specialized materials or equipment
Experience and Qualifications:
* 1+ years of experience in a procurement or purchasing role, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Degree or background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field)
* Familiarity with engineering terminology and technical requirements
* Experience in sourcing, supplier negotiation, or contract management is highly desirable
